FAQ

I’m often asked the same questions by many different people, so I’m adding this page to help clarify things a little!! If you have a question that isn’t addressed here, please feel free to contact me. I love hearing from people!

What religion/denomination are you?

I’m a non-denominational Christian. I attend a non-denominational, independent church called Christian Challenge. (No, it is not related or associated in any way with Teen Challenge or Youth Challenge.) My church would not be considered Pentecostal or Charismatic.

Can you recommend a church?

Unless you live close to me (in central Louisiana), I probably won’t be able to help you find a good church near you. You won’t really know if a church is a good “fit” for you or not until you visit a few times anyway! I usually recommend searching online — often, churches post audio or video copies of their services. That’s a great way to get a taste for the church without physically attending — but nothing takes the place of actually walking through the doors, sitting through a service, and talking to the pastor yourself.

Here’s a good blog post that might help you as you consider a new church:

“How to identify a reliable preacher” by Tullian Tchividjian –  http://www.crpc.org/blog/?p=748

Can we talk on the phone?

No… I prefer to keep things in email. It’s just a privacy thing. Thanks for understanding and respecting that!

I just stumbled upon your website while doing some google searching. I’m in the process of questioning Pentecostal teachings myself currently. I’ve been brought up in the UPC since I was 11 (I’m 24 now) and a lot of the standards and other things are really starting to not click with me anymore. I’ve found a lot of the sites that talk about this are very harsh and don’t have much good to say about Christianity in any way and would like to thank you for making this site and sharing your story. I plan to read through all the entries and get as much out of it as I can as I make my decision on whether I leave my current church or not.
